REVIEW: American Apparel Micro Mesh Leggings

I am enjoying another visit to the archive with these Micro Mesh Leggings from vintage American Apparel. Not only do these footless tights add bold color to your outfit of choice, the sturdy nylon construction can withstand any of life's little hazards that would render my regular hosiery ruined. Whether worn as leggings or tights, the micro mesh is great as a foundational layer or wearing on its own for a spicier vibe. Unfortunately this particular style is no longer sold as American Apparel but a similar Micro Mesh Stirrup Legging can be found at Los Angeles Apparel.

☆ 𝔽𝕀𝕋: The nylon weave is fairly sturdy and tight but the added bit of spandex gives just enough stretch to be comfortable to wear and remove easily, though a stretchier and softer fabric may feel more forgiving. The footless design is a stylish and potentially more comfortable alternative allowing for additional leg layers and footwear choices.
☆ 𝔽𝔼𝔼𝕃: Due to the durability of the mesh, the fabric has a more rough texture as compared to heavier pantyhose or tights. However, the rugged texture has its own tactile advantages.
☆ ℚ𝕌𝔸𝕃𝕀𝕋𝕐: Impeccably constructed and well made, these leggings are a hallmark of the quality products produced by the original American Apparel.
☆ 𝕃𝕆𝕆𝕂: Despite the striking neon color, these leggings are fairly sheer which enables me to get creative with how to wear them. I would prefer a more seamless style as the inside seam runs the full length of the leg to center seam. But the color though! Just brilliant and powerfully pink.
☆ ℍ𝕆𝕎 𝕀 𝕎𝔼𝔸ℝ 𝕀𝕋: I leaned into the retro vibe and layered a brightly hued thong bodysuit over the mesh leggings to create a positively flashy 80s aesthetic. You could easily layer these leggings under shorts, skirts or dresses, as well as on their own for lounging with attitude. I'm game for a dance beat of the Trampsta variety to slow ... it ... down ...
